China News reported from Nanning on 30 October 2026 that the inland barge Hua Hang 905 left Guigang terminal under Guigang Customs (Nanning Customs) supervision carrying six foreign-trade containers, sailing via the Pinglu Canal to Qinzhou Port for reload onto an ocean vessel bound for Vietnam.
Customs described the move as the first Pinglu Canal foreign-trade shipment cleared under the Bay-Port-Tong water-water multimodal supervision model after the canal opened, covering local specialty plywood exports.
Under the model, enterprises submit one multimodal application in the International Trade Single Window and get single declaration, through-box carriage, data sharing and end-to-end supervision, instead of filing separately at origin, transfer and exit points.
Gong Weixi of Guangxi Xinbolin International Trade said that since the Pinglu Canal opened in September, river-sea advantages have kept expanding. The firm previously trucked cargo to Qinzhou for export clearance; with Bay-Port-Tong water-water multimodal via the canal it can finish procedures locally in one stop and handle exceptions on site, cutting logistics cost by about 10% per box.
Guigang Customs said it will deepen coordination with customs along the Pinglu Canal corridor, follow local import-export demand, and stack Bay-Port-Tong multimodal with the canal so channel advantages translate into clearance convenience and lower cost for shippers.
