On 24 September 2026, The Loadstar reported that Cosco Shipping Specialised Carriers, the Cosco group’s multi-purpose shipping arm, launched a container shipping service from Jiangyin to Mexico’s Manzanillo.
More than 500 containers of machinery and finished goods were loaded on the general cargo ship CSPC Jade. Separately, Cosco started a container service from Nanjing to North Africa last Friday, following 2024 and 2025 test voyages through the Northern Sea Route.
The Loadstar notes Yangtze ports are pushing deepsea container routes to cut logistics cost and time for hinterland manufacturers in home appliances, electronics, automotive parts and photovoltaics, which traditionally barged cargo to Shanghai or Ningbo and paid extra handling and short-haul fees.
Direct routing removes that transhipment step. The new Mexico service from Jiangyin is described as a 22-day run, cutting about 15 days versus traditional transhipment routes, and is framed partly as a response to Panama Canal bottlenecks, with some cargo intended to move by rail or truck from Manzanillo into the United States. Cosco had earlier run a one-off Jiangyin–Antwerp box voyage in March on the 1,070 TEU Tian Lu.
