On 25 September 2026, the White House published a fact sheet on President Trump’s reciprocal state visit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, stating that the U.S.–China Board of Trade and Board of Investment were operationalized during the visit.
Under the Board of Trade, the two sides reached consensus on recommendations for more favorable tariff treatment covering $30 billion of nonsensitive goods in each direction. For U.S. imports, named consumer categories include small appliances, toys, holiday decorations and children’s car seats. For U.S. exports, named categories include agricultural goods, fish and seafood, logs and wood products, cosmetics and medical devices.
The fact sheet also said China will import at least 10 million metric tons of U.S. coal in 2027 and again in 2028, and that a Board of Trade working group was launched on agricultural market-access barriers. On rare earths and other critical minerals, it said both sides continue to work on U.S. concerns about supply-chain shortages, with the goal of returning shipment levels to appropriate levels.
Nikkei Asia (26 Sep 2026) and Anadolu Agency (26 Sep 2026) reported the same $30 billion each-way package after the summit concluded. Separate trade reporting noted that USTR Jamieson Greer said Board of Trade details were still expected on Monday, so importers should treat the product lists as recommendations pending formal implementation notices.
