On 6 October 2026, Logistics Manager reported that intra-Asia carrier China United Lines (CULines) has launched a direct liner route called the CN1 (China 1) service, aimed at improving sea connections between major trade hubs in East China and Indonesia.
The port rotation is Shanghai, Ningbo, Quanzhou, Jakarta, Surabaya and back to Shanghai. The loop runs on a 28-day round trip with a fixed weekly sailing. The first departure was the container ship XIN YAN TIAN (voyage CHN0C0S89), which made its inaugural call at Shanghai on 18 September 2026.
The direct calls at Jakarta and Surabaya create import lanes for Chinese manufactured goods into Indonesia, while also supporting Indonesian agricultural and raw material exports. CULines also links the service with its feeder and shortsea networks at Shanghai and Ningbo, so Indonesian cargo can connect onward to long-haul routes serving the Middle East, Red Sea, East Mediterranean and North Africa.
