On 1 October 2026, Container News reported that COSCO Shipping Holdings will launch a third weekly service between the Far East and the East Coast of South America in December 2026. The new ESA3 service is scheduled to begin from Ningbo around 17 December and is intended to expand COSCO capacity in Brazil while increasing sailing frequency to Argentina and Uruguay.
The planned rotation is Ningbo-Shanghai-Shekou-Singapore-Santos-Navegantes-Montevideo-Buenos Aires-Navegantes-Santos-Coega-Singapore-Hong Kong-Ningbo. Container News said the Coega call remains subject to terminal confirmation in October, and COSCO will review the Hong Kong call during the service's second cycle.
ESA3 will connect with feeder services from Santos to Salvador and Vitoria, and a separate feeder from Montevideo will serve Asuncion. COSCO also supports the loop through inland networks: about 193 trucking routes in Brazil (including Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, and Mato Grosso grain regions) plus rail options from Santos, and about 47 trucking routes in Argentina covering Buenos Aires, Rosario, Cordoba, and other inland markets. If Coega is confirmed, the call would add a corridor for South African agricultural and reefer exports into Southeast Asia and China.
