On 5 October 2026, Container News reported that Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) will launch its new Transpacific Latin Atlantic Service 3 (TLA3) in mid-December 2026. The weekly service will connect major Chinese export gateways with Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

The announced rotation is Ningbo, Shanghai, Shekou, Singapore, Santos, Navegantes, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Navegantes, Santos, Coega, Singapore, Hong Kong and back to Ningbo. Calls at Coega in South Africa and at Hong Kong remain subject to confirmation.

The loop gives direct connections from Ningbo, Shanghai and Shekou to Santos and Navegantes in Brazil, Montevideo in Uruguay and Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Container News notes the rotation matches COSCO Shipping's new ESA3 service, which is also scheduled to begin in December 2026. For buyers sourcing from Zhejiang, Shanghai and the Pearl River Delta for South American markets, this adds weekly capacity on the China to East Coast South America lane heading into early 2027.

Yantian Port sets China single-ship record: 28,684 TEU handled on HAMBURG EXPRESS during Golden Week

Shenshi News (via ifeng, 4 Oct 2026) reports that on 2 October Shenzhen's Yantian Port completed 28,684 TEU of loading and discharge on HAMBURG EXPRESS, a 24,000 TEU class ship of nearly 400 m on the Gemini Cooperation AE1 Europe service. It is a new single-ship record for Yantian and for any port in China, beating the 25,872 TEU Yantian record set by ELEONORA MAERSK on 20 July. Linerlytica (2 Oct 2026) reports that PIL and X-Press Feeders will launch a new China Singapore Malaysia (CSM) / North China X-Press (NCX) service with the rotation Xingang, Qingdao, Xiamen, Singapore, Port Klang, Penang, Nansha and back to Xingang. The loop turns in 28 days with 4 ships of 2,400 to 3,500 TEU, starting with the 3,566 TEU KOTA MANIS at Xingang on 27 October 2026.

Guangzhou China-Europe rail keeps running through Golden Week: 5 trains, 550 TEU planned, about 15 days to Europe

Guangzhou Daily (Dayoo, 4 Oct 2026) reports that on 3 October a China-Europe train left Guangzhou International Port carrying smart home appliances, clothing and footwear, and is expected to reach Europe in about 15 days. Guangzhou Station Customs says its railway fast-clearance mode links customs and rail manifest data, so shippers do not need to declare twice or file separate transit procedures. Over the holiday the station planned 5 trains with 550 TEU of goods worth nearly RMB 153 million.

Maersk lowers heavy load surcharge trigger to 25 tonnes for 20ft boxes from the Far East to Germany and Poland from 19 Oct

Container News (3 Oct 2026) reports that from a price calculation date of 19 October 2026, Maersk will apply its US$400 Heavy Load Surcharge (HWS) to all 20ft equipment from Far East Asia to Germany and Poland when Verified Gross Mass (VGM, the box plus cargo weight) exceeds 25 tonnes. For other North European destinations the trigger stays at more than 28 tonnes, effective 30 September, with the same US$400 fee.
