On 12 October 2026, China News Service reported from Guangzhou Border Inspection that Xinsha Port Area at Guangzhou Port moved more than 72,000 Chinese finished vehicles by rail to the terminal for export in January to September 2026, up 190% year on year. That rail-sea volume was nearly half of Xinsha's auto exports; total auto exports through the terminal exceeded 160,000 units in the same period. Guangzhou Daily (Dayoo) carried matching figures the same day.
Xinsha is described as South China's only ro-ro hub where rail reaches the quay line (under 100 metres). Cars unload from the train into the yard and load to ship without a long road detour. Versus traditional highway collection, operators cite about 20% lower logistics cost and about 30% shorter transit time. Brands named in coverage include Wuling, BYD, XPENG and GAC, with destinations across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America, Africa and Europe.
Huangpu Border Inspection stations early coordination of rail arrivals and vessel departure checks (including 7x24 appointment and priority release). Monthly rail-fed volume rose from about 5,000 units in the first four months to about 10,000 in recent months; September set a monthly record at 13,600 units. In the week before National Day, rail accounted for more than two-thirds of the port's auto collection and distribution. The terminal also runs 24-hour dual-shift rail receiving, "immediate connect" handling and 47-wagon block trains, with yard utilisation above 90% after adding about 2,500 storage slots.
