China News Service reported from Kunming on 16 October 2026 that the first 'Zheng He + Rail Express' (郑和号+铁路快通) sea-road-rail multimodal train departed that day from Tengjun International Land Port in Kunming, Yunnan, opening a cross-border logistics channel from inland China directly to Myanmar.
A customs supervision site inside Tengjun International Land Port came into use the same day. Cargo on the first train, including vegetables, chemicals and steel, completed customs declaration and clearance at the land port and was loaded straight onto the train. The train travels on the China-Laos Railway to the Mohan crossing on the China-Laos border and exits there directly.
The service uses a single container end to end. It runs south on the China-Laos Railway to Vientiane in Laos, connects by road to Ranong Port in Thailand, and then moves by sea to Myanmar. According to the report, the network can extend further to South Asia, Southeast Asia and the wider Indian Ocean region.
Xu Jing, chairman of Yunnan International Train Service Trade Co., Ltd., said Zheng He is Yunnan's flagship branded train for its international land-sea corridor to the Indian Ocean. Combined with the Rail Express policy, it moves port functions inland so companies can handle cross-border exports close to home.
