China Daily reported on 4 November 2026 that in the early hours of 3 November the X9726 freight train departed Xi'an International Port Station carrying 40 containers of polyvinyl chloride bound for 11 Yangtze River Delta stations such as Hangzhou North and Taizhou South, marking the first Shaanxi-to-Yangtze Delta multimodal block train.
China Railway Xi'an Group said the product is a road-rail multimodal service centred on rail container trunk haul. It is scheduled to leave Xi'an International Port on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with destinations covering Yongkang East, Huzhou West, Benniu, Hangzhou North, Wenzhou West, Taizhou South, Xinzha Zhen, Zhoujingxiang, Jiaxing East, Xiaoshan and Suzhou West across Jiangsu and Zhejiang industrial belts.
Cargo can rail directly to the destination city, then move by local truck to plant gates without intercity cross-docking. Operators collect white-goods and container cargo from Shaanxi and nearby Northwest sources, including Ningxia, Gansu and Xinjiang feeds, using in-yard stuffing, off-yard stuffing and wagon-to-container conversion where needed.
Shenzhen Zhonghaitong Logistics was quoted saying comprehensive logistics cost on the corridor can fall about 30% versus traditional trucking, with less exposure to fuel swings, weather and highway congestion. The railway said the train runs on a fixed timetable with network priority for more predictable transit.
