China News Xinjiang reported on 30 October 2026, citing Alashankou Customs, that import-export freight through Alashankou port reached 24.644 million tonnes in the first three quarters of 2026, up 10.4% year on year.
Highway traffic grew sharply: highway import-export freight was 1.408 million tonnes, up 63.1%, and Customs supervised 149,000 inbound and outbound transport vehicles, up 48.3%, the fastest growth among Xinjiang's top five highway ports by freight scale.
To handle the surge, Alashankou Customs deepened the highway-port plus origin-direct reform, linked gates with monitoring systems, and applied appointment clearance and priority document review. Inbound vehicle clearance time was cut by 80%. In September alone highway freight was 26,000 tonnes, up 45%. Fresh and hazardous goods get priority handling under a rapid joint-response mechanism with other inspection units.
On the rail side, inbound and outbound freight was 14.586 million tonnes, up 13.2%, and Customs supervised 6,833 inbound and outbound trains, up 18.7%. Overall transit time for import cargo is now within 16 hours, supporting stable China-Europe and China-Central Asia train operations.
A local logistics operator said one-stop enterprise services and customs-rail data sharing reduced dwell time and improved cross-border schedule reliability. The port said it will keep pushing facilitation reforms and customs-rail-enterprise coordination to keep the corridor open for regional export-oriented supply chains.
