On 4 October 2026, Xinhua Finance reported from Hangzhou that Yiwu has entered its peak export season for Christmas products. In the Christmas goods zone on the fourth floor of District B at Yiwu International Trade City, lights and artificial trees are already on display for buyers.
According to Yiwu Customs, the city exported 4.75 billion yuan of Christmas goods in the first eight months of 2026, an increase of 10.9% year on year. Yiwu is the world's largest distribution hub for Christmas products, accounting for close to 80% of the global market, and ships more than 20,000 categories of Christmas goods to 178 countries and regions every year. Since June, Christmas items have made up a clearly larger share of Yiwu's outbound cargo and have helped lift overall exports.
A manager at Yiwu Miqi Import and Export Co. said this is the main shipping season and that many overseas customers have asked for earlier delivery. The company offers one-stop consolidated purchasing of Christmas and related gift items so buyers can stock up in advance. The manager also said he expects exports of toys and festive decorations to benefit as the reciprocal US-China tariff reduction arrangements take effect.
Song Jiansheng, deputy section chief at Yiwu Customs, said more than 1,200 containers a day are currently being sealed and cleared at the Yiwu port customs supervision site. To keep large volumes moving, customs has deployed large container inspection equipment, a smart monitoring centre and smart gates, with officers on site around the clock.
