At 06:30 on 12 October 2026, Xinhua reported that the rebuilt Huanggang Port formally opened, applying co-location arrangements and a new “cooperative inspection, single release” clearance model to make Shenzhen–Hong Kong passenger travel more convenient. Shenzhen News Net covered first-day operations the same morning.
The rebuilt port is a national Class-I facility combining immigration, a multi-level transport hub and public space. Gross floor area is about 689,700 m². It has 134 cooperative express lanes and 68 manual lanes, with design daily passenger capacity of about 200,000 (higher once the MTR Northern Link spur opens). Passenger clearance time is cut from about 30 minutes to about five; vehicle “five-in-one” lanes push data once to Shenzhen and Hong Kong inspection agencies, cutting vehicle clearance from about 10 minutes to about two.
Layout stacks vehicle inbound on level 1, vehicle outbound on level 3, and passenger halls on levels 4–5. Basement level 2 connects five rail lines, with Shenzhen Metro Line 7 already in service and others reserved. When the new building opened, the temporary passenger hall and Hong Kong’s Lok Ma Chau Control Point passenger service stopped; Shenzhen–Hong Kong passenger flows shift to Huanggang.
For sourcing managers who fly into Hong Kong or Shenzhen and visit Pearl River Delta suppliers, Huanggang’s 24-hour passenger and passenger-vehicle service is a practical alternative to other GBA crossings during peak travel (including the 140th Canton Fair window). Confirm opening hours for freight vs passenger use separately—this launch is passenger and passenger-vehicle focused—and keep backup crossings if queues spike on opening week.
