China News reported from Wuzhou, Guangxi on 23 October 2026 (published 24 October) that a local Wuzhou transport company's own trucks carried Wuzhou-made products directly to Hong Kong for the first time that day.
The trip takes about 8 hours. That is nearly six times faster than moving the same goods by water, and almost 50% faster than trucking via Guangdong for onward transfer. Logistics costs were about 25% lower, according to the report.
The first run opens a direct land exit channel for local Wuzhou products and reduces reliance on trucks from other cities to leave the country.
Wuzhou's transport bureau said it had visited companies to clear bottlenecks such as vehicle quotas for Hong Kong-bound trucks, secured the needed permits, and offered fast review services. The city said it will keep building local freight capacity and multimodal links so more products can reach the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and overseas markets.
