At the 2026 Tianjin–Amazon Cross-border E-commerce Cooperation Conference on 13 October, Amazon announced that its Global Export Consolidation warehouse (GXD) had formally opened in the Tianjin Dongjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone. Tianjin Daily, in a report carried by Xinhua's Tianjin channel, says this is Amazon's first such warehouse in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It is intended to expand cross-border warehousing and consolidation capacity across North China.
The warehouse offers consolidation, quality inspection and labelling for cross-border sellers. It has been in trial operation since July, and inventory has grown steadily, with goods coming from Tianjin, Beijing, Hebei and Shanxi. Using Amazon Global Logistics, exports can ship from Tianjin Port directly into Amazon's overseas fulfilment network, linking 'industrial-belt factory – GXD – Tianjin Port – Amazon logistics – global consumers'.
Zhang Hui, Amazon Global Logistics' Asia-Pacific business lead, said sellers in the region used to send goods to ports in East or South China, which meant longer routes, higher costs and slower delivery. A local report from Jiyun (津云) put the extra inland haulage at about RMB 8,000 per container, plus 2–4 more days on the road. One Dongjiang seller of underwater powered recreation equipment said it used to export mainly through Ningbo and can now ship from Dongjiang, saving three to four days of trucking.
Tianjin's cross-border e-commerce trade grew from RMB 6 billion in 2020 to RMB 65 billion in 2025, averaging almost 30% a year during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The city's local industries include bicycles, carpets, home furnishings and equipment manufacturing. Its plan aims for cross-border e-commerce to make up 10% of the city's foreign trade by the end of 2027, with a target of more than RMB 100 billion.
