China News Service published a feature from Wenzhou on 20 October 2026 on how the city supports its private exporters with logistics, trade fairs and compliance services. In 2025 Wenzhou's goods trade reached 311.65 billion yuan, of which exports were 276.19 billion yuan, up 9.6%, with private companies contributing about 96% of exports.
A central piece is the Wenzhou large international consolidation base (phase one), invested by Wenzhou Modern Service Industry Development Group and opened on 29 October 2025 in the Wenzhou Marine Economy Development Demonstration Zone. It covers about 33,900 square meters and is the city's first off-port yard able to handle container pick-up and return. More than 90% of local exporters are small and micro firms shipping small, frequent batches, which is the demand the base was built for.
The base places empty containers close to factories, consolidates cargo locally and trucks it to Wenzhou port, where it can board 18 direct near-sea routes covering major ports in Russia, Vietnam, Thailand and other markets. An exporter of electrical products quoted in the report said the base is a 40-minute drive from its factory and gives it more control over loading times than trucking to Ningbo port. The operator estimates that local container pick-up and consolidation saves 1,500 to 2,000 yuan per TEU once transport and time costs are counted.
According to the report, the base has served more than 160 exporters and its combined throughput has passed 10,000 TEU, with goods ranging from shoes, apparel and synthetic leather to packaging and can-sealing machines shipped to destinations including the Netherlands, Kenya and the Philippines.
The feature also notes that Wenzhou hosted 55 exhibitions and related events in 2025, and that the Wenzhou cross-border e-commerce service platform now has more than 4,500 registered users, offering customs, logistics, compliance and finance services. Wenzhou's cross-border e-commerce exports reached 28.74 billion yuan in 2025.
