China News Service reported from Guangzhou on 24 October 2026 on modular and prefab housing at Phase 2 of the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair).
Shi Baocheng, general manager of Hebei Dechang Guangtai Integrated Housing Technology, said its expandable house offers 40 square meters of usable space, folds into one 40-foot standard container, and can be assembled on site by four to five workers. He said orders for the product are booked six months ahead.
According to China Customs data cited in the report, China's prefab building exports grew from USD 1.472 billion in 2015 to about USD 4.339 billion in 2025, nearly tripling over ten years.
Yin Wanqing, sales manager at Shandong Boren Intelligent Technology, said the company sold more than ten modular houses in the first two days of the fair and was negotiating a 50-unit order, with buyers mainly from Mexico and South Africa. Units are priced at 100,000 to 150,000 yuan each, can be produced in 35 days, and come fitted with bathrooms, flooring and beds. Overseas demand centers on hotels, senior apartments and office buildings.
Yin said materials such as galvanized steel frames and rock wool insulation can be chosen to suit each country's climate and building standards, with products meeting access standards for Europe, the US, Southeast Asia and Africa. The company's modular house export revenue this year has passed 10 million yuan, up about 30% year on year.
Exhibitors also highlighted one-stop whole-home furnishing. Sichuan Shenshui Smart Home said it designed a new product plan for a New Zealand client in three days, with orders booked to December. Guangzhou Shinemond Home said it now offers measurement, design, production, shipping and installation as a full package for overseas clients.
