China News reported from Maoming on 24 October 2026 that Maoming Customs said the vessel Suiganghang 5001 berthed smoothly at Maoming Guanggang Terminal on 23 October. The ship carried 26 containers of imported crude peanut oil from Senegal; clearance was completed and unloading was under way. The move marks the first import water-to-water multimodal shipment at Maoming Port.
Previously, imported peanut oil often faced fixed routes, many handovers, warehouse delays and higher cost. Under the multimodal model of one declaration, end-to-end clearance and a single through document, goods can move on ocean vessels to Guangzhou Port, then transfer by feeder at lower cost to Maoming Guanggang Terminal for inbound distribution, without repeated customs filing or re-inspection.
On the Maoming/Zhanjiang-Nansha routes, ships can carry domestic and foreign-trade cargo together, mix import and export boxes, and turn empty and laden containers on the same voyage, using mature Greater Bay Area sailings to improve utilisation.
A manager at Yihai Kerry (Maoming) said the company used to clear most containers at nearby large ports and haul them inland by road, which took longer and cost more. With Maoming Port container multimodal services now open, overall logistics time and clearance convenience have improved.
