Coverage citing Zhejiang provincial government materials reported that on 2 November 2026 the multipurpose vessel Rising Lania berthed at Taizhou Port's Damaeyu area and loaded 350 TEU of Taizhou-made electromechanical goods, including cold cabinets. The ship was scheduled to sail the next day on the inaugural Taizhou Port-Central/South America freight service, transiting the Panama Canal to Kingston, Jamaica, and serving Central and South American markets beyond.
The corridor is jointly built by Taizhou Marine Investment Group, Yuhuan State Investment Group and Ningbo Geyu Shipping. It is designed as a monthly fixed-schedule, fixed-route service so local exporters can book home-port space instead of hauling boxes to Ningbo or Shanghai for far-ocean connections. Pre-launch materials listed a Damaeyu-Qingdao-Panama-Kingston rotation on 30,000-50,000 dwt multipurpose ships suited to electromechanical, light industry and building materials cargo.
Xingxing Cold Chain said Central and South America accounts for about 30% of its export market and placed 68 TEU of cold-cabinet products on the first sailing. Taizhou Commerce Bureau data show city trade with the region at RMB 16.01 billion in January-September 2026 (up 10% year on year), with exports of RMB 14.91 billion led by vehicle parts, liquid pumps, medical-chemical products, plastics and sewing machines.
Operators position the route toward Kingston, Venezuela and Caribbean island markets rather than the main Argentina/Brazil calls used by large carriers, aiming to give Taizhou SMEs more predictable capacity on a differentiated far-ocean lane.
