China News Service reported from Zhanjiang, Guangdong, on 16 October 2026 that, according to Zhanjiang Customs, a batch of rice cookers worth US$36,000 passed through the gate of Zhanjiang Comprehensive Bonded Zone on 15 October in export consolidation form and was being loaded for shipment overseas. It was the zone's first export consolidation shipment.
Export consolidation lets export goods 'share a booking' to go overseas. Companies bring scattered, small-lot goods into the comprehensive bonded zone, complete consolidation and declaration there, and then load them onto the ship together. Comprehensive bonded zones are special customs-supervised areas where companies can combine policies including tax rebates on entry into the zone, bonded storage, zone-port linkage and direct loading on arrival at the port.
The head of Guangdong Runtai Logistics Co., Ltd., which runs the consolidation project, said that when consolidation was done outside the bonded zone, exporters could only apply for tax rebates after the goods had actually left China, tying up funds for longer at higher cost. Under the bonded zone model, rebates can be processed once goods enter the zone, so cash comes back faster and export costs fall.
Zhanjiang Customs said the first shipment means the zone's export consolidation channel is now formally open. It expects more manufacturers with small-lot, multi-batch exports to use the platform to lower their costs, and more logistics businesses to cluster in Zhanjiang.
