China News Service reported from Guangzhou on 24 October 2026 that Phase 2 of the 140th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) is under way, and that the fashion jewelry zone brings together 59 companies and 180 booths. Exhibits include lab-grown diamonds, moissanite, pearls, silver and copper work, crystal and jade.
Some products draw on Chinese traditional culture and combine crafts such as filigree inlay, copper carving and mammoth-tusk carving with modern design. At Hangzhou Zhu Bingren Copper Art, overseas business director Yu Ji said a new gourd-shaped jewelry line uses copper carving with lacquer, enamel, cloisonne and filigree, mainly in Chinese red, for everyday wear. Many overseas buyers were seeing the products for the first time at the fair and planned to take samples to test local market acceptance.
Brazilian buyer Helen Nogueira tried on Chinese-style pieces on site and said she liked the designs, especially red bracelets, and would buy some to take home. Beijing Maolong Culture showed products using several of the "Eight Superb Skills of Yanjing", including gold-lacquer inlay, filigree, cloisonne, jade carving and carved lacquer; sales manager Jing Ying said Russian and French buyers were interested in palace-style candlesticks that mix Chinese and Western elements, and the company hoped to meet overseas channel partners.
Changzhou Jianbo Elegant Carving showed watches and fan ornaments with ink-wash patterns made by millimeter-depth knife carving then filled with ink and pigment. General manager Xiao Chenkai said Southeast Asian markets tend to like Chinese cultural ornaments, and the company uses mammoth tusk, southern red agate and turquoise with traditional knife work and fashion design to reach younger consumers. First-time Canton Fair visitor Rohan Kanagarajah from Switzerland said he liked Chinese cultural motifs such as the dragon and had shortlisted some copper jewelry to sell back home.
According to the Gems and Jewelry Trade Association of China, cited in the report, China's jewelry industry imports and exports totaled USD 167.882 billion in 2025, up 8.5%, with exports up 41.33% to USD 50.638 billion, and trade with emerging markets such as Russia and the Middle East expanding quickly alongside strong ASEAN growth.
